Mt. Manasluis the 8th highest peak in the world towering around 8156m. in the northern Himalayan range in Gorkha district of Nepal. Manalsuword derives from the Sanskrit word Manasa which means “intellect” or “soul” in short Manalsu means “Mountain of Spirits”. Manaslu was first climbed by Japanese team in 9th May 1956 and is being the favorite amongst the Japanese as Everest is first choice for European mountaineers. Manasluis the 4th most dangerous 8000er peak in the world behind Annapurna, Nanga Parbat and K2. It beholds the most avalanche prone route, inclement weather and the indefinable snowfalls lasting for days. But with all these possibilities of circumstances the peak has been conquered many a times and is climbed with all adequate measures required for a safe climb by professional mountaineers. The climbing nowadays has changed a lot in manner of equipment planning safety and the weather forecasting, but the nature lies unpredictable indeed.

The trail commences from Samagaon, the last inhabitance before leaving to the ultimate adventure. It is a multiple days trek to Samagaon from Kathmandu, the foot hills of Mt. Manaslu.

The route can be travelled via local transport which is an arduous journey through risky off roads and several days trek until reaching the base camp or can fly by a chopper till Samagaon. The route offers tremendous valley views and the rich backdrops engulfed with foliage and the rural dwellings, mostly isolated from the rest of the world. It is just the climbing season when people are opened to the outsiders willing to climb various peaks held in the adventurous country of Nepal.

The base camp after Samagaon is hours trek on loose rocks of slanting gradients leading to the snout of a glacier. The base camp is surrounded with stone boulders and icy penitents from where one can have the first glimpse of the mighty Mt. Manaslu. After base camp climb on the scree slants followed with snow and ice stretches, there are two options for fixing camp I at lower and higher altitudes varying about 100m height. The last stretch toward higher camp I is steep on snow, it will depend on the pace and timing of the mountaineers to fix camps at higher one. On the following days acclimatization will be done along with ferrying loads to the camp I and camp II. From camp I to camp II (6270m) snow slopes occur one after the other, one ice cliff after another restricting progress to minimum. The last stretch toward camp II is just normal slow walk.  Then camp II to camp III is steep on snow slant and the rise of altitude slows up the ascend yet the landscape around is rejuvenating. There are multiple snow patches vertical ice walls of 80 degrees and several crevasses during the ice wall climb warning climber to be careful until camp III is at 6800m. is achieved. From camp III to camp IV gradient steepens more and the surface turns solid of big long ice cliffs slope starting from the camp III.Enroute one can see all previous camps clearly reminding the nasty altitude gain. Climbing on similar slopes of prior ice and snow we will reach at the camp IV at the altitude of 7400m.

The camp IV is also summit camp from where one can estimate the further route and planning for the attempt. The summit route is mainly mixed of ice and snow requiring adequate strength to tackle thin air as the altitude rises above 8 thousand meters. The gradient remains strenuous until the pinnacle is held. The top of the Manaslu peak is fabulous presenting the glorious Himalayan ranges into view. The high peaks of MansiriHimal, a part of Nepalese Himalaya soar above the clouds showing its prominence and grandeur while standing atop. Stand at the summit for some time take photographs and retrieve the trail back to the lower camps.

As everyone knows descending is the trickiest part of climbing, climb down cautiously and prudently on such devastating slopes. At the end we will reach the inhabitation and will retrieve back to our preferred destination celebrating the triumph over stupendous Himalayan Peak.

The Manaslu peak expedition is a stunning 43 Nights and 44 Days in the busy market town of Soti Khola, going up and back along a different path, dropping in Kathmandu. The trek is wild and secluded, yet you will find teahouses at various intervals, and it is accessible and affordable.

Preparation for the Peak Climb:

As you know every mountainous excursion demands a precise planning, a planning with adequate pliability of observing and tackling situations, held all as by overcoming mind body and soul throughout the incredible Himalayan journey. Expeditions are tricky sometimes way far from coinciding, so it is necessary that only people with prior trekking experiences above 4500mtrs completed for 4-5 times or should have done Basic Mountaineering course are invited to join in the incredible mountainous tour.

So here are some aspects regarding Expedition preparation:

Physically: An Expedition demands a lot of physical endurance, to prepare for each Expedition you should work out a month before joining a program.  Build up the adequate strength in your legs by running and exercising every day to boost up your endurance. Stop smoking and boost your lungs doing breathing exercises at routine basis two times a day, which will help acclimatize the conditions while being resilient on the trek. Take active part in outdoor games, Yoga and any other cardiac exercises. There are times when you have to climb even for 20hrs in single attempt, that’s how you should be prepared pushing yourself beyond limits and it only can be achieved by defined training before and enroute.

Mentally: Mental preparation is key, equally as important as physical training requisite for an Expedition. Before joining any Expedition get pleasure from your daily routines, exercise, eat well, take rest properly and relax. Do not stress your mind by unnecessary predictions preplanned strategies about the Expedition. Be with your best friends to get motivated and relax your mind. Because pre expedition assumptions are not worth to worry, once you join the March and meet with rest of the pack will bring encouragement and excitement. The mental preparedness will build through the entire trip conditions and the physical drawbacks will affect the mind somehow. So pay close attention to various parts of the body and consciously let them loosen up as you climb each campsite. When you climb try to relax your body focus on the training you have done and focus on the trail or some precipitous route to negotiate carefully. Experiment with different ways of walking as a way of finding enjoyment beyond the goal of reaching a destination. The main key to stay mentally fit is to enjoy the route and not to pressurize the mind.

Technically: Gear up yourself with perfect size trekking/climbing shoes and walk with it. Use 60ltr. Backpack in a daily routine with as much weight as you can put inside it, so you will become used to carrying loads for long distances. Buy a Trekking Pole, Water Bottle, Warm socks, Thermals, Fleece, Feather Jackets, Cap, Trousers, Poncho, Flip Flops, electronics such as power bank, camera (DSLR or digital camera) along with you. Get a sling to practice the major knots used later on the climb.

Climbing a peak is always as staggering as its sheer challenges, opting combination of accurate preparedness will fruit you with glorifying summit attain. So prepare yourselves honestly and join in the Himalayan Adventure Trips Expedition to Mighty mountain Manaslu Peak.

Even though not as popular as other trekking agencies, these guys were very professional and conducted one of the most difficult treks in an Excellent way. The trek leaders, support staff and the cooking staff were excellent. They really run the trek on their shoulders. I remember the cooking head was saying to me that he has done pin Parvati nearly 50 times and there hasn't been any incident whatsoever, I realized it why. The technical staffs really did amazing job to get everyone cross the difficult and risky boulders and tricky sections. Appreciate the whole team. The management team though can improve on communication and advertising more.

Yunam Peak is open for those who look for a High Altitude challenge. Its duration is short compared to the others of comparable height. One is on foot only for 2 or 3 days. One part of the walk is entirely loose stones/boulders, the other part is just snow. Himalayan Adventure trips provide comfortable accommodation before and after the trek at their campsite in Naggar. Their trek guide was competent and the other members were proficient in the work they had to handle.

This trek is the place and the trek to take , if it all you have any doubts on your physical capabilities or want to challenge your body and mind together! What a trek it was! The hardest route, the most difficult terrain and the longest hike I have ever done. Still, this is my best! Our family did it together and it is our best one. We had the longest route - 45km and it took almost 5 days to complete. It was a night trek and we scaled during the midnight amidst moonlight and snowing. What a thrill

Such magnetic place which would attract you from miles away. It's attraction would not be light even if you reach up to it and walk on it. Just a nature's marvel which makes everything else look smaller and worthless in front of it.

A trek treat on Himalayas. So much of knowledge about the other side of mountain life seems to have made a tad richer in experience and of course the humility and good lessons to lean on to that only mountains can teach.
