Everest Base Camp Trek

The Everest region is located in the north-east of Nepal. The 10 days walk through the Lukla to the higher altitudes of Khumbu to the base of Sagarmatha [Mt. Everest], the world's highest peak, is an opportunity to observe and participate in the daily life of the legendary Sherpa people. The prime attraction - 8848 m peak - lies in Sagarmatha National park. Which is also home to two other eight Thousand- Lhotse and Cho Oyu - besides several other prominent peaks above 6,000 meters.

Designated as a world Heritage site in 1979, much of the 1,148 sq. km park lies above 3,000 m. The park is composed of rugged terrain with deep gorges, glaciers and huge rocks. the vegetation in the park varies from temperate plants like pine, hemlock, fir juniper, birch, rhododendron and shrubs to alpine plants and then to bare rock and snow. it is home to the ghoral, tahr, serow and musk deer as well as the impeyan pheasant, blood pheasant, red - billed chough and the yellow - billed chough.

From Tengboche you can continue on to the Pheriche, Kala pathar and the hamlet of Gorakshep. From there, Everest Base Camp is easily accessible, as is the summit of Kala pathar [5545 m.] from which much of Mt. Everest is clearly visible. However, you must take time to properly acclimatize as the altitude gains are rapid.

Day 01 : Kathmandu 1350m.

You will be welcomed by Halesi Treks at Tribhuvan International Airport upon your arrival, and then transferred to hotel.  Briefing about the trips and checking the equipments. Overnight at Hotel

Day 02: Fly to Lukla & Trek to Phakding 2652m.

A spectacular flight and hair raising landing on a steep mountain runway brings us to the start of our trek  at the village of Lukla 2850m. After meeting the crew, we head up the Dudh Kosi Valley on a well- marked trail to our first camp near the river at Phakding. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 03 : Trek to Namche 3450m.

From Phakding, we cross and re-cross the river on high suspension bridges. Beyond Monjo is the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park which was set-up in order to protect and preserve this fragile mountain environment. We then ascend quite steeply to Namche and along the way, if the weather is clear, catch a first glimpse of Mt Everest in the distance. Namche is the main trading village in the Khumbu and has a busy Saturday local market - a meeting place for the Hindu traders from the lowlands and the Tibetan yak caravans that have crossed the glaciated Nangpa La. overnight at guesthouse.

Day 04 : Rest day in Namche 3450m.

Namche is tucked away between two ridges amidst the giant peaks of the Khumbu and has an abundance of lodges, tea shops and souvenir shops as well as a magnificent outlook. It is an ideal place to spend a rest day, acclimatizing to the new altitude before heading off towards Tengboche. There are also good views from the national park centre and museum just above the Namche Bazer. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day  05 : Trek to Tengboche Monastery 3860m.

The trek continues along the rushing glacial waters of the Dudh Kosi with magnificent views of the mountains. We trek to an altitude of 3860m.today. The group will be taken to observe a prayer ceremony either in the evening or morning depending on how the days trekking went. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 06 : Trek to Dingboche 4350m.

From Tengboche the trail drops to Debuche, crosses another exciting suspension bridge on the Imja Khola, and climbs to Pangboche amongst thousands of mani stones. So you can go to our website www.himalayanadventuretrips.com to get any of the information regarding your preferred program or if you don’t know about trekking/climbing you can contact us and we will recommend you the best option requisite.

As you know every mountainous excursion demands a precise planning, a planning with adequate pliability of observing and tackling situations, held all as by overcoming mind body and soul throughout the incredible Himalayan journey.

So here are some aspects regarding trek preparation:

Physically  A trek demands physical endurance, to prepare for each trek you should work out a month before joining a program.  Build up the adequate strength in your legs by running and exercising every day to boost up your endurance. Stop smoking and boost your lungs doing breathing exercises on a routine basis two times a day, which will help acclimatize the conditions while being resilient on the trek. Take active part in outdoor games, Yoga and any other cardiac exercises.

Mentally – Mental preparation is key, equally as important as physical training requisite for a trek. Before joining any trek take pleasure in your daily routines, eat well, rest properly and relax. Do not stress your mind by unnecessary predictions about the trek. Be with your best friends to get motivated and relax your mind. Because pre trek assumptions are not worthy because once you join the trek and meet with the rest of the pack will bring encouragement and excitement. The mental preparedness will build through the entire trek conditions. And the physical drawbacks will affect the mind. So pay close attention to various parts of the body and consciously let them loosen up as you trek. When you trek try to relax your body, especially your hips. If you’re on a winding downhill trail or on a panicking slant, think of each step as part of a simple dance and enjoy the natural rhythms that the terrain and your body can find together cautiously. Experiment with different ways of walking as a way of finding enjoyment beyond the goal of reaching a destination. The main key to stay mentally fit is to enjoy the route and not to pressurize the mind.

Technically- Gear up yourself with perfect size trekking shoes and walk with it. Use 60ltr. Backpack in a daily routine with some weight inside it, so you become used to carrying loads. Buy a trekking pole, water bottle, warm socks, thermals, fleece, feather jackets, trousers, poncho,  flip flops, electronics such as power bank, camera (DSLR or digital camera).

Even though not as popular as other trekking agencies, these guys were very professional and conducted one of the most difficult treks in an Excellent way. The trek leaders, support staff and the cooking staff were excellent. They really run the trek on their shoulders. I remember the cooking head was saying to me that he has done pin Parvati nearly 50 times and there hasn't been any incident whatsoever, I realized it why. The technical staffs really did amazing job to get everyone cross the difficult and risky boulders and tricky sections. Appreciate the whole team. The management team though can improve on communication and advertising more.

Yunam Peak is open for those who look for a High Altitude challenge. Its duration is short compared to the others of comparable height. One is on foot only for 2 or 3 days. One part of the walk is entirely loose stones/boulders, the other part is just snow. Himalayan Adventure trips provide comfortable accommodation before and after the trek at their campsite in Naggar. Their trek guide was competent and the other members were proficient in the work they had to handle.

This trek is the place and the trek to take , if it all you have any doubts on your physical capabilities or want to challenge your body and mind together! What a trek it was! The hardest route, the most difficult terrain and the longest hike I have ever done. Still, this is my best! Our family did it together and it is our best one. We had the longest route - 45km and it took almost 5 days to complete. It was a night trek and we scaled during the midnight amidst moonlight and snowing. What a thrill

Such magnetic place which would attract you from miles away. It's attraction would not be light even if you reach up to it and walk on it. Just a nature's marvel which makes everything else look smaller and worthless in front of it.

A trek treat on Himalayas. So much of knowledge about the other side of mountain life seems to have made a tad richer in experience and of course the humility and good lessons to lean on to that only mountains can teach.
