Dzo Jongo Ri is located right next to Kang Yatze range, a bit more technical summit. Dzo jongo Ri is a climbing peak with minimum technical demands yet consisting steep inclines on slippery gradients of snow and ice. These steep ascends will be negotiated with the use of crampons or by fixing ropes, that the climb becomes safer. The climbing route covers one of the true natures of Laddakh presenting vast Plains of Nyimaling numerous Stupas, ancient Monasteries incredible village settlings and the bunch of generous dwellers living hard on these hinterlands of desolation.
  • Initially route leads on the thin trails then loose rocks and finally to the snow patches. The route passes through one of the harshest and arid natural landscapes where one has to be hydrated all the time. There are several crystal clear streams enroute ready to be drunk without inevitably. Enroute one will pass Markha village ancient caves bone chilling streams and finally to Dzo Jongo Base at 5500m. The key thing to summit the Dzo jongo Ri is to acclimatize properly. We will spend adequate time to get favored to the atmosphere. Subsequently a summit attempt will be made as per the weather conditions. The climb is more like a trekking peak but is steep enough on the final ascends. It offers a perfect chance for one looking to achieve altitude above 6000m. without any extra efforts. The Dzo Jongo Ri comprises the same amount of effort than required to climb Stok Kangri (Banned in 2019). As we start climbing the mountain sheer uphill leaves one struggle yet the extensive panorama keeps rejuvenating ones strength. The gradient turns sharper as we climb on the summit shoulder at least for some time requiring crampons for the extra safety. The summit ridge is most of rocky properties which consists less or no snow patches on this last section of setting acme. On the summit at 6280m one can see the giant peaks of Karakoram Range towering above 8000m the distant Western Himalayan Peaks, Zanskar Range in the south, Changthang mountains on the east. We will offer a Puja atop and pray for the safe return. After summit return back to base rest and leave to the lower camps and back to the Leh city.

Mentally: Mental preparation is key, equally as important as physical training requisite for an Expedition. Before joining any Expedition get pleasure from your daily routines, exercise, eat well, take rest properly and relax. So pay close attention to various parts of the body and consciously let them loosen up as you climb each campsite. Experiment with different ways of walking as a way of finding enjoyment beyond the goal of reaching a destination. The main key to stay mentally fit is to enjoy the route and not to pressurize the mind.
