Cycling is a best mean of transportation providing close encounters of the countryside. It connects one so much with everything, a comprehensive experience much more closely to the nature of varied terrains. One can almost taste the culture riding through mountainous trails while being exposed to the climate of wind and rain a much more spontaneous experience. It will be a great effort to conserve and respect nature by riding the mountains in eco friendly manner without least harm indeed.
Naggar to Bijli Mahadev is the most scenic cycling trail stretching across busy town’s remote villages through abundant forest lands of the valley. It completes all kind of trailing though one can do it any time of the year. The cycling route covers every terrain from tarmac to rough roads, villages to jungle and low lands to the alpine range achieved ultimately at Bijli Mahadev. The road to Bijli Mahadev starts from Naggar, and is well maintained till Jana. After Jana it is total rough road until we reach the last bit of it at the Bijli Mahadev Temple. The trail offers great surroundings cherished a lot by travelers, cyclists, bikers passing by the route. There are numerous sites in between where one can relax amidst virgin Nature. There is one open meadow after dense forest trail situated stunningly at the half of the route called Matikochhad. It is the site of magnificent valley vistas seen below, accompanied with sparkling Beas River flowing tortuously to the low lands. Further from this point we will keep riding the gradual climbs soon followed with moderate terrains. Enroute the trail enters into the Kais Wildlife sanctuary where one can have a glimpse of some wild creatures wandering about. The density of forest keeps flourishing and declining after every km. as we forward close to the 16 tank campsite. The trail ends its one part at Bijli Mahadev, a pilgrimage of powerful vibes. It is believed that all the devastating thunderstrikes fallen in the valley are attracted by the Shivling located inside the temple. The Shivling bears the entire stroke and shatters into pieces, which later on is molded and joined by using butter as an adhesive to member it. The temple perches on the top of mountain range, a location where 360 degree view is offered significantly. We ride back the same route while taking rests at prime stopovers. A moderate climbs for few km’s will lead to a complete downhill trail all the way long to Naggar. The route is completed by the evening and then one can get refreshed at our hotel. We hope that it will be a fascinating weekend trip for those who want the real pleasure in just few days of mountainous excursion. Finally time has arrived to bid adieu by breaking up the group leaving further to their preferred programs.
Day 1: Arrive Naggar (1800m.) – Vyasar (2100m.)- Naggar
Arrive Naggar at Hotel Journey Casa early in the morning, then accommodate yourself and start riding towards right side of the river vale. We will ride on the left side of the river Beas till we reach raison. Here we will cross a bridge then take left and ride some meters and again take left following the road through the arroyo. The road is moderately steep with beautiful vegetation around. We will pass some of the village located aside the road and will ride meanderingly into the backdrop. Soon after a large iron bridge will come to the where we will take left, further from here is the only road leading to Vyasar. After this bridge road keeps hiking up demanding one’s strengths to push harder higher than ever. The route tests the rider to his endurance needed for the upcoming trail. We will trail till Vyasar village, here we will have our lunch relax and trail back to Naggar via same route. The road soars up higher presenting far strecthed valley view’s seen from nowhere else but enroute this trail. Retrieving back is done in ease followed by most of downhills and moderate terrains. We will reach Naggar most probably by the evening. Once reached fresh up have your refreshment and relax for the night after dinner.
Day 2: Naggar – Jana (2200m.)– 16 Tanks (2350m.)
Today is the most amazing day of trail consisting of mixed terrains followed by least tarmac and overall rough roads. Initially we ride on flat zones passing through dense jungles of Pine Deodar trees. The route increases gradient consecutively tiring one with endless climbs. The rising road opens a way up vast valley view’s remote settlings enroute. After 2-3 hours of climbing we arrive at Jana, a well populated ancient village rich in traditional architecture, customs. At Jana fall we will take some rest then enter into the rough road. The road enters into the wild forests one again through thick canopies playing with ones sight. The road is hidden between dense trees which can’t be seen from any point. It leads in and out of the valleys opening and closing the grand vistas of mountains around. In between we reach at Matikochhar, an alpine pasture amidst wild trees offering beautiful scenery in front. Here after we again lead into the forests through streams and dusty roads. There is a water filling point while go further from Matikochar, a last climb upwards then total downhills till 16 Tanks. The thickness of the forest gets increasing as we pass the Kais wildlife sanctuary. Soon we will reach at campsite by the evening. We will have some hot drinks and get refreshed later. At night we will make some fire and have our dinner aside it. We will halt inside tents for the day to come.
Day 3: 16 Tanks – Bijli Mahadev (2500m.) – Naggar
Wake up early to glimpse a spectacular sunrise over the Bijli Mahadev Temple perched atop. Take your bike and ride for 3 km’s of flat off road through forests. Soon the forests will start to disappear as we get near to the meadows of Bijli Mahadev. The temple is visible once the vegetation shortens to miniature. As we walk on the ridge one can get a 360 degree view surrounded by snow capped mountains. One can see the dense populated valley of Kullu Manali escorted by these massive ranges along with Beas river flowing in between serenely. We will enter into the temple premises without any leather items, circle around and worship Lord Shiva for better health as well as better future. Having spent some exceptional time we ride back to our camp. Here we will have our breakfast, then wind up all the stuff and get ready for the returning back. We will ride the same way back. It is gradual climb till the point where we fill our water bottles. After this point there are minor climbs followed by moderate to sheer downhills. At Jana we will have some rest and food then proceed on the effortless slope all the way till Nashala. Then flat road comes with last few climbs and we are at Hotel Journey Casa. Once approached get refreshed submit back any gear hired from us and check out for your further plans. `
Shoes: .You can buy a proper cycling shoe or can carry sport shoes. Sport shoes are light and breathable which is convenient during the ride, a pair of Flip Flops worn at the campsite.
Clothing: Bring cycling shorts, sweat proof t shirts, a fleece, Down feather jacket, Cap, Hat, Cycling Gloves, underwear.
Sanitary: A sunscreen containing SPF 30, Sun scream cream, Lip balm, Cold cream, Moisturizer, Body lotion,Hand Sanitizers, Toilet Papers, Wipes, Antibacterial powder, tooth brush & toothpaste, Quick dry towel. toiletries etc.
Socks: Carry 1 - 2 pair of sports socks along with woolen socks to be worn at night.
Headlamp/Led Torch are mandatory
Sunglasses: Bring UV protected sunglasses used during rides.

How to Reach Manali
Distance by road:-
Manali is well connected to Delhi. Take an overnight bus from Delhi and you will reach Manali in 12 ? 14 hours(approx 540 KMS). Tickets can be booked online at www.redbus.in or www.hrtc.gov.in Tip : Since Delhi Manali is a long journey most Volvo private buses leave Delhi between 5 pm and 6 pm. The last govt bus leaves at 8.30 pm from ISBT Kashmere Gate. Volvo buses charge between Rs.1,000 to 1,400 per sector from Delhi to Manali and vice versa. Manali to Delhi: Like the onward journey, buses leave from Manali to Delhi between 4 and 5 p.m. Your tentative arrival at Delhi may be anywhere between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Plan your onward journeys only post noon giving enough buffer for bus delay.
How to reach Naggar:
From Manali, Naggar is 18 km. far and there are multiple buses running in every 15 minutes or one can get off at Patlikuhal which is 5 km. far from Naggar on the right bank highway. Patlikuhal lies in between of Kullu Manali. You can club a taxi or travel by a local transport from Manali or Patlikuhal to approach Naggar.
Nearest Railway Station:-
Nearest Railway station is Ambala (350 kms) and Chandigarh (310 kms). Tip: Regular Volvo and Buses are available from Chandigarh to Manali in the evening. Volvo buses charge between Rs.800 to Rs.1,200 per sector from Chandigarh to Manali and vice versa.
Nearest Airport is Bhuntar is 60 Kms. ?Bhuntar, which is 52 km away from Manali, is the nearest airport. Taxi services are available from Bhuntar to Manali, which costs about Rs.1000? Rs.2,000. Bhuntar is well connected to Delhi by air. The airliners that take you to this Airport are Indian Airlines, Kingfisher airlines, MDLR Airlines and Jagson Airlines, operating flights from Delhi and Chandigarh to Kullu.

So here are some aspects regarding Cycling Trip preparation:
Physically – A cycling trip demands physical endurance muscle power and patience, so preparing for each cycling expedition you should work out a month before joining a program. Build up the adequate strength in your legs by riding 70-100km’s everyday and exercise to boost up your endurance. Because riding on plains are totally different instead riding in the mountains, mountain roads are steep often followed by downhills. Riding 100km in the plains is like riding 10km of mountainous roads. Hence stop smoking if you do and boost up your lungs doing breathing exercises at routine basis two times a day, which will help acclimatize the conditions while being resilient on the trip. Take active part in outdoor games, Yoga and any other cardiac exercises.
