Our destination of this trip ends at the Chadratal Lake, a stunning emerald lake named after its crescent shape. It is the main source of the Chandra River gushing into the valleys of Spiti then to the confluence at Tandi in Lahoul. The setting of the lake is mind-blowing often visited by numerous trekkers, explorers and Nature lovers. It is a highland lake situated at 4300m a decent height to experience the high altitude atmosphere. The lake is revered holy in the co related region and is circumambulated by the pilgrims. One can see the Buddhist flags fluttering in the air spreading good vibes all around. The lake is 3km wide and takes 2-3 hours to finish the roundabout. It could be a pleasant way to end the trip at tranquil sighting of the Chandratal Lake. The trip concludes at Baatal, and ahead of it we retrieve back via 4x4 vehicle.

Get ready early, pack all the necessities and hop in the vehicle for a drive till Manali. At Manali we will check our bikes and leave after a group photo. The road goes through villages, apple orchards, lush green forests all the way upto Marhi. The road hikes up meanderingly opening grand vistas of the valley. One can see the mighty Hanuman Tibba erecting massively as we pass through Gulaba. The vegetation will start declining while pedaling toward Marhi. It is a short ride but could be a perfect acclimatization ride before entering into the high altitude. We will reach Marhi by the afternoon and halt inside the tents for the night.
Today we will cross the Rohtang Pass and ride beyond into the total opposite valley of Lahoul and Spiti. One can see the Rohtang Pass from the campsite clearly. It will take about 2-3 hours to go across the top. After the Rohtang Pass it is sheer downhill until we reach at Gramphoo, a small stopover just few km’s before Koksar. We will take right turn and enter into the land of unexpected voyages. The route further from here is rough consisting streams torrents in between yet route being moderate. It is a bumpy ride on stone gravel and sand, accompanying all the way long. Our stop for the day is at Chota Dara, a beautiful site with least greenery amidst the rusty mountains. We will set our camps and halt for the night.
The day has come to approach magnificent Moon Lake. We will cross some of the stopovers till Baatal, and further there are no inhabitants just before the Chandratal Lake. The road goes for some km’s and divides into two, one leading to Kunzum Pass and the other towards Moon Lake. The rough trails will keep bumping your buttocks until we reach Lakes vicinity. There are multiple camping sites set few km’s before the lake to serve travelers passing by. The road ends a km’ before the lake but we can ride our bikes as near to the lake. Eventually the dazzling emerald lake appears by its virgin beauty. It is 3km wide stretched lake, shaped crescent, like the Moon. The shape and dimensions can be figured while circumambulation or getting an aerial view by a Drone. The lake reflects hues of emerald all day long, an oasis between the cold deserts. One can see all desolation besides the plant life growing successfully aside the river flow. We will spend some quality time around the lake and return back to Baatal. We will halt here at Baatal in tents.
Pack all your belongings and get ready for a drive back to Manali over Rohtang Pass. It will take about 4-5 hours to reach Manali, here on one can leave to his/her preferred destination.
Shoes: .You can buy a proper cycling shoe or can carry sport shoes. Sport shoes are light and breathable which is convenient during the ride, a pair of Flip Flops worn at the campsite.
Clothing: Bring cycling shorts, sweat proof t shirts, a fleece, Down feather jacket, Woolen Cap, Hat, Cycling Gloves, underwear.
Sanitary: A sunscreen containing SPF 30-50, Sun scream cream, Lip balm, Cold cream, Moisturizer, Body lotion,Hand Sanitizers, Toilet Papers, Wipes, Antibacterial powder, tooth brush & toothpaste, Quick dry towel. toiletries etc.
Socks: Carry 2 - 3 pair of sports socks along with woolen socks to be worn at night.
Headlamp/Led Torch are mandatory

Manali is well connected to Delhi. Take an overnight bus from Delhi and you will reach Manali in 12 ? 14 hours(approx 540 KMS). Tickets can be booked online at www.redbus.in or www.hrtc.gov.in Tip : Since Delhi Manali is a long journey most Volvo private buses leave Delhi between 5 pm and 6 pm. The last govt bus leaves at 8.30 pm from ISBT Kashmere Gate. Volvo buses charge between Rs.1,000 to 1,400 per sector from Delhi to Manali and vice versa. Manali to Delhi: Like the onward journey, buses leave from Manali to Delhi between 4 and 5 p.m. Your tentative arrival at Delhi may be anywhere between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Plan your onward journeys only post noon giving enough buffer for bus delay.
From Manali, Naggar is 18 km. far and there are multiple buses running in every 15 minutes or one can get off at Patlikuhal which is 5 km. far from Naggar on the right bank highway. Patlikuhal lies in between of Kullu Manali. You can club a taxi or travel by a local transport from Manali or Patlikuhal to approach Naggar.
Nearest Railway station is Ambala (350 kms) and Chandigarh (310 kms). Tip: Regular Volvo and Buses are available from Chandigarh to Manali in the evening. Volvo buses charge between Rs.800 to Rs.1,200 per sector from Chandigarh to Manali and vice versa.
Nearest Airport is Bhuntar is 60 Kms. ?Bhuntar, which is 52 km away from Manali, is the nearest airport. Taxi services are available from Bhuntar to Manali, which costs about Rs.1000? Rs.2,000.
