  • Nuptse is the toughest technical peak highest among 7 Nuptse peaks located in Nepalese Himalayas. Nuptsein Tibetan means “West Peak” a peak well-recognized for its steep west face dropping more than 23000m’s in the famous Khumbu region. It was first climbed by the British team led by Joe Walmsley  in 1961. Since then many expeditions have been led by various teams from all over the world and were successful summating the peak. The Nuptse peak  has always been a strenuous summit with formidable ice and rock walls, steep ridgelines and many of the unknown terrains held overall. Recently a famed Swiss Mountaineer and speed climber Ueli Steck died in an accident while climbing the north face wall of Nuptse. Many of the Tragedies and Triumphs are associated with the arduous Peak yet the prominence of the mountain is so intimidating that it offers an experience of a lifetime. It is 20th highest peak in the world renowned for its challenging summit approaches. The peak shares the same route as for the world’s giants of the Himalayan range. So the climbing offers endless vistas of towering peaks, an excellent opportunity for those seeking to gain ultimate heights and loft over grandeur of clouds .
  • Initially the expedition passes dense forests of Rhododendron, Oak and Pine trees through Tyang bochhe, Dingbochhe, Lobuchhe and finally to the Nuptse Base camp. At base all preparation are being fixed with subsequent acclimatization done each day. Next move away from the base to the battleground of ice and rock skipping and falling around the craters of ice. After negotiating mounds of loose rocks hard snow relieves the stress for a while. Later the snow slope rise into flanks of ridges finally reaching at the Camp I. Then climb over the fluted ice rib to a steep snow field and to the crest of the ridge. Camp II is fixed further on the ridge just past a rock gendarme, a gentler place with adequate space to dump food and gear. The further ascend traverses over steep line of exposed footholds, handholds and intoxicating sense of climbing with good balance and careful movements. The chimney continues with the ice wall and in between Camp III is fixed alongside of an ice overhang. Establishing Camp IV is the most difficult part of the climb and traverses through ice wall and move round on to the west side of a ridge. The twist and turns of the ridges are confusing and a gendarme with a steep wall facing the ridge puts climber to a dangerous exposure. A steep direct ascend of 200ft followed by a long traverse to the end of the ridge will approach at Camp IV. Simultaneously Camp VI is placed on the bottom corner of lower snowfield, a way through the difficult and dangerous rock band. Camp VII and VIII are fixed after tiring efforts over ice and rock. Finally the loads are transferred to the camp on the edge of upper snow field at 22500ft. At last climb across the snow field to the foot of couloir which led up to a saddle just to the left of the summit. It is an exhausting struggle through hundreds of feet couloir, narrow ridge of plastered rocks to the knife edge ridge summit of Nuptse at 7861m.
  • While having a look around atop west ridge of Nupts ewith great cornices hanging, Mt. Lhotse, vast plains of Tibet and Mighty Mt. Everest is clearly visible. After tremendous effort the great peak has been triumphed and it is time to return back to the safer heights. Soon we will descend winding up all the higher camps to the Base of expedition. At base cleaning will be done and will return back to the trailhead.
  • Nuptse peak expedition is graded as a difficult trek, this peak is suited for climbers who are experienced with basic mountaineering and can handle extreme weather

Expand All

As you know every mountainous excursion demands a precise planning, a planning with adequate pliability of observing and tackling situations, held all as by overcoming mind body and soul throughout the incredible Himalayan journey.

So here are some aspects regarding NUPTSE PEAK EXPEDITION preparation:

Physically – A trek demands physical endurance, to prepare for each trek you should work out a month before joining a program.  Build up the adequate strength in your legs by running and exercising every day to boost up your endurance. Stop smoking and boost your lungs doing breathing exercises at routine basis two times a day, which will help acclimatize the conditions while being resilient on the trek. Take active part in outdoor games, Yoga and any other cardiac exercises.

Mentally – Mental preparation is key, equally as important as physical training requisite for a trek. Before joining any trek take pleasure in your daily routines, eat well, take rest properly and relax. Do not stress your mind by unnecessary predictions about the trek. Be with your best friends to get motivated and relax your mind. Because pre trek assumptions are not worthy because once you join the trek and meet with rest of the pack will bring encouragement and excitement. The mental preparedness will build through the entire trek conditions. And the physical drawbacks will affect the mind. So pay close attention to various parts of the body and consciously let them loosen up as you trek. When you trek try to relax your body, especially your hips. If you’re on a winding downhill trail or on a panicking slant, think of each step as part of a simple dance and enjoy the natural rhythms that the terrain and your body can find together cautiously. Experiment with different ways of walking as a way of finding enjoyment beyond the goal of reaching a destination. The main key to stay mentally fit is to enjoy the route and not to pressurize the mind.

Technically- Gear up yourself with perfect size trekking shoes and walk with it. Use 60ltr. Backpack in a daily routine with some weight inside it, so you become used to carrying loads. Buy a trekking pole, water bottle, warm socks, thermals, fleece, feather jackets, trousers, poncho,  flip flops, electronics such as power bank, camera (DSLR or digital camera).
