  • Mukut Parbat is located in North Gharwal Himalayas near to the Indo-Tibetan border in Uttrakhand. It is among the most technical peaks found in the Gharwal Himalayas. Mount Mukut was first climbed by a New Zealand team from its steep sharp ridge on the Dakhini Chamrao Glacier. The peak has been attempted many a times by joint teams of Indian and foreign mountaineers successfully from east and southern sides. It boasts of sheer terrains consisting serious technical approaches over 7000mtrs.Mount Mukut is surrounded by some of the glorious peaks of Gharwal Himalayas such as Abi Gamin, Kamet, Mana and many of the unknown 7000snders.
  • The expedition starts from Mana to Vasundhara falls leaving Alaknanda river behind and following river Sarasvati to the Mana Pass over its left bank at Ghastoli. The route goes through beautiful foliage of different flower species and fascinating Himalayan birds to the transit camp at 4100m. Further we climb over the 1000m almost vertical ridge to the base camp at 4800m. A long and tiring march on the vast moraine stretch would take hours to reach at the advance base camp 5300m. Here at ABC first glimpse of fine looking peak and Chamrao glacier is visible coming down to the Sarasvati River from the east. Meanwhile a load ferry will held on to the camp I 5800m and will be established subsequently. The likeness of the main peak as a crown peak can be seen how it derived by seeing majestic Mukut Parbat and its eastern shoulder. Then move up to the Dakhini Chamrao glacier to establish camp II at 6500m which leads through snow and ice slants to the col at the foot of North West ridge of Mukut Parbat. The slopes during climb dropped to 65-70 degrees over snow rocks ice gully and to the dangerous traverses at initial stages. Camp II is a striking site dividing Dakkhini Chamrao and Paschimi Kamet glacier presenting commanding view of Mt. Kamet on the neve of Paschimi Kamet Glacier. The brown shades of Tibet in the north and Abi Gamin to the right and the clean glacier dropping down to the Mana pass offers memorable sight at camp II. After camp II is the dragging effort over steep slope of 70degrees followed by Slingby’s col just below the summit camp. From summit camp the summit dome is clearly visible but distance is strenuous and deceptive. Climbing on the hard ice surfaced by soft snow over numerous humps stagger one with devastating winds. A long traverse over several crests we reach at the summit shoulder of the mountain and soon moment of exhilaration arrives. Finally we attain the summit and take photographs of magnificent views of Great Plains of Tibet, mighty Abi Gamin and Mt. Kamet. After spending few minutes on the top of gusty pinnacle we will descend carefully back to the lower camps whilst winding up all the equipment’s. At the base we will celebrate the triumph on Mukut Parbat and will return back to the civilization boasting over commendable achievement.

Preparation

Preparation for the Peak Climb:

As you know every mountainous excursion demands a precise planning, a planning with adequate pliability of observing and tackling situations, held all as by overcoming mind body and soul throughout the incredible Himalayan journey. Expeditions are tricky sometimes way far from coinciding, so it is necessary that only people with prior trekking experiences above 4500mtrs completed for 4-5 times or should have done Basic Mountaineering course are invited to join in the incredible mountainous tour.

So here are some aspects regarding Expedition preparation:

Physically:
An Expedition demands a lot of physical endurance, to prepare for each Expedition you should work out a month before joining a program. Build up the adequate strength in your legs by running and exercising every day to boost up your endurance. Stop smoking and boost your lungs doing breathing exercises at routine basis two times a day, which will help acclimatize the conditions while being resilient on the trek. Take active part in outdoor games, Yoga and any other cardiac exercises. There are times when you have to climb even for 20hrs in single attempt, that’s how you should be prepared pushing yourself beyond limits and it only can be achieved by defined training before and en route.

Mentally:
Mental preparation is key, equally as important as physical training requisite for an Expedition. Before joining any Expedition get pleasure from your daily routines, exercise, eat well, take rest properly and relax. Do not stress your mind by unnecessary predictions preplanned strategies about the Expedition. Be with your best friends to get motivated and relax your mind. Because pre expedition assumptions are not worth to worry, once you join the March and meet with rest of the pack will bring encouragement and excitement. The mental preparedness will build through the entire trip conditions and the physical drawbacks will affect the mind somehow. So pay close attention to various parts of the body and consciously let them loosen up as you climb each campsite. When you climb try to relax your body focus on the training you have done and focus on the trail or some precipitous route to negotiate carefully. Experiment with different ways of walking as a way of finding enjoyment beyond the goal of reaching a destination. The main key to stay mentally fit is to enjoy the route and not to pressurize the mind.

Technically:
Gear up yourself with perfect size trekking/climbing shoes and walk with it. Use 60ltr. Backpack in a daily routine with as much weight as you can put inside it, so you will become used to carrying loads for long distances. Buy a Trekking Pole, Water Bottle, Warm socks, Thermals, Fleece, Feather Jackets, Cap, Trousers, Poncho, Flip Flops, electronics such as power bank, camera (DSLR or digital camera) along with you. Get a sling to practice the major knots used later on the climb.

Climbing a peak is always as staggering as its sheer challenges, opting combination of accurate preparedness will fruit you with glorifying summit attain. So prepare yourselves honestly and join in the Himalayan Adventure Trips Expedition to Mighty mount Mukut Parbat.
