Wake up early, pack all your stuff have breakfast then commence by a vehicle till Manali. Start cycling from Manali on the tarmac through villages, apple orchards, lush green forests, all the way up to Marhi. The road is pretty good but heavy traffic creates Jams and traffics in the summers.  Although there is no problem for the bicycles, but one has to be careful while riding and keeping his side. The road goes along some of the beautiful forests of conifers, birch and oak. The route offers great scenic beauties as one climbs up the hill. The route is uphill with decent gradient. The distance for today’s ride isn’t that long but with a good acclimatize ride. After hours of ride we reach at Marhi. Night halt will be in the temporary hotels/camps at Marhi.

The route goes through rugged and broken roads in between.  The route is downhill at initial but becomes gentler later on. The ride is long on this day but with the moderate terrain. As you know every mountainous excursion demands a precise planning, a planning with adequate pliability of observing and tackling situations, held all as by overcoming mind body and soul throughout the incredible Himalayan journey.

So here are some aspects regarding cycling expedition preparation:

Physically – A cycling trip demands physical endurance muscle power and patience, so preparing for each cycling expedition you should work out a month before joining a program.  Build up the adequate strength in your legs by riding 70-100km’s everyday and exercise to boost up your endurance. Because riding on plains are totally different instead riding in the mountains, mountain roads are steep often followed by downhills. Riding 100km in the plains is like riding 10km of mountainous roads. Hence stop smoking if you do and boost up your lungs doing breathing exercises at routine basis two times a day, which will help acclimatize the conditions while being resilient on the trip. Take active part in outdoor games, Yoga and any other cardiac exercises.

Mentally – Mental preparation is a key to success, equally as important as physical training requisite for a cycling expedition. Before joining any cycling trip take pleasure in your daily routines, eat well, take rest properly and relax. Do not stress your mind by unnecessary predictions about the trip. Be with your best friends to get motivated and relax your mind, because pre trip assumptions are not worthy, once you join the cycling expedition and meet with rest of the pack will bring encouragement and excitement amidst. The mental preparedness will build through the entire trip conditions. And the physical drawbacks will affect the mind. So pay close attention to various parts of the body and consciously let them loosen up as you ride. The main key to stay mentally fit is to enjoy the route and not to pressurize the mind.

Technically- Gear up yourself with perfect size cycling shoes and ride with it for long distances. Use good quality helmet, riding gloves, a watch if you have, elbow knee pads, extra tube, puncture kit, led lights, any kind of lube, hydration pack/water bottle and extra brake/gear wires.

Even though not as popular as other trekking agencies, these guys were very professional and conducted one of the most difficult treks in an Excellent way. The trek leaders, support staff and the cooking staff were excellent. They really run the trek on their shoulders. I remember the cooking head was saying to me that he has done pin Parvati nearly 50 times and there hasn't been any incident whatsoever, I realized it why. The technical staffs really did amazing job to get everyone cross the difficult and risky boulders and tricky sections. Appreciate the whole team. The management team though can improve on communication and advertising more.

Yunam Peak is open for those who look for a High Altitude challenge. Its duration is short compared to the others of comparable height. One is on foot only for 2 or 3 days. One part of the walk is entirely loose stones/boulders, the other part is just snow. Himalayan Adventure trips provide comfortable accommodation before and after the trek at their campsite in Naggar. Their trek guide was competent and the other members were proficient in the work they had to handle.

This trek is the place and the trek to take , if it all you have any doubts on your physical capabilities or want to challenge your body and mind together! What a trek it was! The hardest route, the most difficult terrain and the longest hike I have ever done. Still, this is my best! Our family did it together and it is our best one. We had the longest route - 45km and it took almost 5 days to complete. It was a night trek and we scaled during the midnight amidst moonlight and snowing. What a thrill

Such magnetic place which would attract you from miles away. It's attraction would not be light even if you reach up to it and walk on it. Just a nature's marvel which makes everything else look smaller and worthless in front of it.

A trek treat on Himalayas. So much of knowledge about the other side of mountain life seems to have made a tad richer in experience and of course the humility and good lessons to lean on to that only mountains can teach.
